Paddling Classes for Eppie's Great Race - Thu, Jun 19, 2008 - Wed, Jul 16, 2008
Current Adventures Kayak School and Trips offers paddling instruction for the on-water section of Eppie's Great Race. Whether you have never paddled or you have been at it a while, they teach valuable boat control and stroke techniques, river information and show you the best route on the water for the 6.35 mile stretch. Spectators and participants alike enjoy the "World's Oldest Triathlon" that features a unique 5.82 mile run, 12.5 mile cycle and a 6.35 mile paddle combination. The events are held along the beautiful American River Parkway, between Rancho Cordova and Sacramento. Jeepers Jamboree off-road trips start in Georgetown, California. Vehicles travel the Rubicon Trail east over approximately 45 miles of paved and dirt roads, crossing the dam at Stumpy Meadows and the old cattleman's stop of Uncle Tom's Cabin. American River Music Festival - Fri, Sep 19, 2008 - Sun, Sep 21, 2008
This three-day mostly acoustic American and Canadian Roots music festival takes place at Henningsen-Lotus Park in Lotus, and at several Coloma Valley campgrounds. Over 22 performances and workshops are scheduled including an on-river jam led by Joe Craven, live music on a beautiful naturalist-guided river front hike, over 9 performances/workshops in riverfront campgrounds, and the main stage at the beautiful Lotus Park.
